God loves touch! Physical touch is a necessary part of human life. It plays a major role in childhood development and has lasting effects on mental and physical health. Many psychological studies have shown the effects touch can have on people of all ages. Additionally, touch impacts the way we perceive and interact with the world around us. God purposefully made us with the ability to interact physically. The way our bodies react to physical interactions offers proof of a divine creator with a loving touch made more evident in His Son’s actions. Jesus ministry on earth began with touch. Brought to earth as a child, He grew and experienced the same things any normal child would. Jesus closed the gap between humans and God, allowing us to physically interact with Him after a time apart.

Through touch, He performed miracles, brought comfort, taught lessons, and endured more pain than what should be possible. Touch played a large role in Jesus ministry.

This study will look at Jesus’ interactions through physical touch and the psychological impacts of each touch. We will be studying the psychological implications of physicality alongside biblical ideas and stories. The ministry of touch is an important part of Jesus ministry on Earth and our continued ministry as Christians.
