The book of Jonah is probably one of the most familiar books of the Bible. Whilst many are familiar with the fish story, few are familiar with God’s passionate desire for Jonah to step across racial, cultural, and political lines to share God’s message of salvation and repentance. These are the same lines that many Christ-followers refuse to cross today. Although it is likely none of us will end up spending a long weekend in the belly of a large fish if we don’t cross those lines, we can use Jonah’s account as a prayer guide to help us break down the walls of division that are dividing our congregations, communities, and our nation.
 
This devotional, Hi My Name is Jonah, based on the book of Jonah, will serve as a guide to help share the love of Christ with those in our circles of influence who may not look like us, vote like us, or even share our beliefs. It will help us show the love of Christ to them with more than just our words and prayerfully help us invite people of all cultures, races, faiths, and political perspectives to become recipients of Christ’s amazing love. It will also help clarify the eternal consequences when we let our preconceived racial and cultural biases prevent us from doing so.
